.577 Snider

The Joseph Snider system was first offered in America and it was rejected but it was subsequently adopted as a British military round in 1867. The original cartridge had a card body and a brass base which was later improved by the use of coiled brass for the body of the case. Today the .577 Snider has a conventional drawn brass case.
